Fading Light House

Sunset at Amphitrite Point Lighthouse in Ucluelet, Vancouver Island. The lighthouse was built in 1915, and takes the full brunt of the rugged pacific coast, battered by the unrelenting wind, rain and waves of the pacific. Before its construction, this coastline was known as the Graveyard of the Pacific because of all the shipwrecks caused by unpredictable weather conditions, storms, fog, and dangerous coastline. In total thousands of ships to wrecked here since European exploration of the area began and many in the immediate vicinity of the lighthouse, hence its chosen location.
